I stayed at Abington for 9+ months after leaving primary treatment and I walked in with fear (I still wasn't sure recovery was worth it) yet within a day of being at Abington; I could see recovery wasn't only possible but also able to give me everything I lost. There wasn't a single day that I felt hopeless or like using was my only way to live. The team at Abington not only saved my recovery but also my life and this was done with care, comfort, gratitude and teaching from real experience, strength and hope. If I could go back in time, the only thing I would've done differently is kick and scream louder to move in the day Abington opened to have been there longer. Abington not only saved my life but also showed me how to live and even though I had to move out 6 months back, there isn't a single day that passes me by where I'm not grateful. It's through my time at Abington that I've gotten my masters with distinction, able to job hunt, able to sponsor and slowly but surely getting my family back. Even with my sponsees, Abington is always the first place I suggest because I know there they'll be in the best possible care and I say that without a single doubt.

It’s difficult to put into words what Abington House means to me. I spent 16 months there during a very challenging period of my life, while navigating the early stages of recovery. I genuinely don’t know where I would be today without the support, structure, and ethos that Abington House provided. The people who run it are obviously passionate about recovery. They are hands-on, honest, compassionate, and truly care about every resident. They also allow the community the freedom and responsibility to help run the house, which, together with everything above, sets them apart from many other sober living environments. If you are serious about your future and looking for an ethical, supportive, sober living and recovery environment, I cannot recommend Abington House highly enough.

I will forever be grateful to Ben and Craig for providing me with a place to stay whilst I reintegrated myself back in to “everyday” living , once I had left treatment in the Natal Midlands ! Abington House is in a league of its own ! I have stayed at various other ‘sober living’ houses in the past - too no avail . Not only is Abington House bespoke in the facilities that it provides, but what makes this place special is the recovery that is evident in the house! Craig leads by example in his no nonsense approach in getting you back into the swing of life but also ensuring that you tick all the boxes with regards to laying a solid foundation with your recovery , i.e. staying sober once you leave the house . I arrived at the house , having no friends , no clue on what, where or how I was going to keep myself solid on leaving treatment . Well by the time I had left the house we had started a new meeting in the area, I had a house full of friends who are now like family to me but I have carried on living the program in my own home now which was instilled in to me by living at Abington ! If you want what I have , which is an ever growing solid recovery with wonderful connections in the fellowships then Abington House is the place for you ! Thank you Craig and Ben for leading by example and for being a shining light whilst others rebuild their lives around you !

At first, I was hesitant to come to Abington House, because I was unsure what benefit living there right after coming out of rehab would bring me. After living at Abington House for 1 year, I can honestly say that giving myself this year has been the best decision of my life. Abington House afforded me a safe environment, filled with like minded people who I now call my best friends. Living at Abington was the best year of my life in recovery thus far. I grew as a person and learnt to adjust to the world after leaving rehab, and become the person i always wanted to be. Craig and Ben are two of the most caring and thoughtful people who are hands on and involved in shaping me into a better person and a productive member of society. I am forever grateful for the amazing experience of living at Abington House. Its a special place. The biggest gift I could have given myself was living at Abington House

I stayed at Abington House for a year after coming out of rehab and it was exactly what I needed at that stage of my recovery. It is a place that truly does what it promises and helps you reintegrate into society and learn how to live again. During my time there I built structure, responsibility and independence. The environment is supportive but also real. They do not hold your hand, they guide you. I learned how to manage life on life’s terms and today I live on my own with a solid routine and a clear mind. Abington House is not about comfort, it is about growth. If you are serious about building a life in recovery, this place gives you the space and guidance to do just that. I will always be grateful for the role it played in my journey.
