Star of Hope is a community- Christian based School in Krugersdorp, Mogale city, Gauteng-South Africa. It is an affiliate of The Church Theatre South Africa. The school was established with the purpose of giving an educational opportunity to children coming from less privileged families. Star of Hope provides standard Education, spiritual and moral support, counselling and nutritional meals to children that are captured in the system. Star of Hope School was established in 2011 under the leadership of Apostle Emma Uzoagba. A child developer and educational phycologist with deep enthusiasm whose passion for early childhood development was ignited while teaching in a Sunday school. He believes that a small input can have a big impact on Child’s development. He saw the need to establish a school that would provide Educational opportunities to children coming from families that are less privileged in Krugersdorp and surrounding areas. Having been a pastor in the community for more than ten years. Star of Hope is an innovative play-based, Edu -care and Christian-early child development center which has been created to support parents from one month until your child turns 6 years old. Currently the school lodged application with \Gauteng department of education to operate fully as primary school from (Grade1-7) which shall be accredited by UMALUSI Since its establishment, Star of Hope has been receiving funding from the church and other forms of support from the business communities. Now having been established as a community school the financial reality of the school dream has become the next hurdle. As a sustainable model, Star of Hope is intending on generating sufficient income from classes in form of tuition fees and seek donations of any sort to sustain operations. The management of the school is seeking for partners and contributors that share in the established school community core values. The dream to create an innovative community school that is an incubator of wellness, education and success for communities in Krugersdorp has inspired a growing coalition of not-for-profits that shared the dream but not the checkbook. To date, no major grants, donations, or support has come forth, however, Star of Hope School continues to receive small donations from stakeholders. Today, the school is seeking corporate sponsors to support the community school effort and hopefully provide “seed” money to jump start the operations. The planned outcomes are real, refined, and focused on establishment. Star of Hope School appreciates the call by the Government of the Republic of South Africa to ensure every child is provided with an opportunity to attain basic Education and to ensure that by 2030 every school going child is given a nutritious meal outlined in the National Development Plan (NDP).
