Went to view an apartment at Mandalay Estate in Beverley. It’s a brand new development and was blown away by the properties and how nice everything was. Decided to do the lease application and everything including doing the application was easy, no issues whatsoever. Then they gave us the lease. This is where the red flags started cropping up. I read through the 4 page lease agreement and wanted to clarify some things as things weren’t adding up. The lease agreement violates laws that protect tenants and when I tried to clarify this, the contact I was dealing with told us that the lease was non-negotiable. If I were you and thinking about renting from Summercon think again, you won’t be protected as a tenant. I have attached screenshots of parts of the lease to highlight their shady practices and their response to it. If you have any knowledge on contract law, the rental housing act and the national consumer protection act you’d see they’re violating them without addressing the issues.
