Son Vida is a great security complex. The flats are decently sized (~50m² for a bachelor's; not bad by Stellenbosch standards). The complex is a ~10 minute walk from the university campus, and is a stone's throw away from Coetzenburg stadium (where there's a gym). Due to it's proximity to the varsity it is predominantly populated with students, and is surrounded by similar private residences - occasional late-night noise incidents to be expected.

This 1970s-era apartment block is generally neat and safe. However, more personalised upkeep is required—the apartment I visited had peeling paint in the bathroom, unfinished window repairs, and lifted ceiling planks. I'm told that the complex manager is a bicth, too, and abuses her position to bully residents. Items have previously been stolen out of cars in the parking lot. It's better than most places but not perfect.
