Top service from the management staff. I’ve had a positive experience when it comes to the staff, from viewing and selecting a unit with Mbali to sorting out contracts with Wandi, the team delivered great customer service. This place is secure so I have no safety concerns whatsoever. When we have an issue in our apartment the operations manager resolves it in a timely manner. I would give a 5 star rating but for me that heat pump bill knocks them down a peg. Also a generator would be nice.

Avoid This Company – Unacceptable Living Conditions and Poor Service I strongly recommend steering clear of this company. What they promise in terms of quality living is far from the reality. Here's a breakdown of the issues I encountered: Misleading Flat Description: I was unable to view the flat in person before moving in and was only given a poorly lit, unhelpful video. The first time I saw the flat in person was on move-in day, and it was nothing like what I was promised. The flat was filthy, musty, and poorly maintained, with missing cutlery drawers and water runoff staining the walls. Unfulfilled Promises of Inspections: According to their own policies, the flat was supposed to be inspected with me before move-in. This never happened. Getting them to bring the flat up to a livable standard took weeks, and even then, there were ongoing issues. For example, the curtains were ruined with paint because they couldn't be bothered to take them down while I was away. Delayed Repairs: The cutlery drawer was missing for the first few days, and it took three days for them to replace it. Meanwhile, I injured myself during the move, and when I reached out for medical support, there was absolutely no help or concern. I had to go to the hospital and needed stitches. Poor Ventilation & Noise Issues: The rooms were stuffy with no proper ventilation. Even with the windows open, the air didn’t circulate. I was told there were noise limits, but at 3 AM, the windows were rattling loudly, which was incredibly disruptive. Shoddy Maintenance: Maintenance requests were either ignored or poorly handled. After months of asking for repairs, the curtain rail that kept falling down was only "fixed" by hammering a block of wood into the wall. That’s the kind of "repair" they consider acceptable. Unhygienic Conditions: Recently, I discovered maggots in the corridor, and I have no idea where they came from. My guess is someone may have thrown them in through the window, but this level of uncleanliness is inexcusable. Smoke-Filled Rooms: Another major issue is the constant smell of cigarette smoke. People in other flats are smoking indoors, and it fills my bathroom with the unbearable odor. It's disgusting and completely unacceptable, especially since this is again againt there rules. Overall, my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. The lack of professionalism, maintenance, and care for tenants is glaring. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Update: 02/02/2026 So an update not only have they removed all the shade nettings so now my car sits in the sun all day, but they have now removed all the access to the premisis by car, so for no reason at all I now have to park my car out side on the street, with no way to fix this issue with them.
I am extremely disappointed with the lack of communication from the agent regarding my application for accommodation at The Atlas in Sandton. I submitted my application over two weeks ago, and since then, every attempt to get an update has been ignored. Every time I call or message, I’m told to wait or to call back, but I still have no response now I am left in limbo without any official answer. If my application is unsuccessful, I expect a clear response. This level of unprofessionalism is really frustrating, and I hope the agency can address this urgently.
Good place to live and very relaxing. There’s quite a few downfalls that I hadn’t mentioned in my first review. The rooms are small and the cupboards in the kitchen are not much at all! Very few. I had to get an extra one for my groceries. Electricity is also quite costly though prepared. I live with my sister, R300 electricity equals about 70 something units and hardly lasts the entire month. It finishes by the third week and we have to top up. Water is billed separately, they use the heating pump method. Your total amount to pay derives from dividend of the total of other units monthly. So basically you don’t pay hot water for what you’ve used, it’ll depend on what your neighbours have used as well. The unit is now full of cockroaches. Initially I thought that it was only my unit, probably I’m not clean etc. I went to buy a product I was referred to to fumigate the house. It helped but now it’s worst! Everywhere even by the neighbours, corridors etc. I asked a friend who stays at The Leo, she said that they have the entire building fumigated twice a year because these are old buildings and are prone to having roaches. Rental isn’t what is advertised, it’s now actually way more. My 2 bedroom apartment alone costs about R6700 but I pay almost R8000 monthly excluding prepared electricity. And there’s no swimming pool or gym here. Only a braai area, garden and business centre.
Been here for 3 years , I enjoyed my stay with africrest more than Ithemba. For me the billing issue ,is a major one , like mistakes on my statement. When I log a ticket, they take time to respond etc , rent is very expensive compared to the room , I don’t think its much value anymore, with this type of rent , I think I could get better apartments now . 3/4 years back , atlas was one off the cheapest places , it was seen as a cheaper alternative to the apollo / the alpha, now things have changed. I think there is better value for money out there
