The Paragon is a nice hotel with secured entrance & parking. I enjoyed my stay here with my friends. Although others are noting that it's a bit noisy due to the large student population, I didn't find it so. My only complaint is that they advertised that there are safe in every room; I didn't find one in my room. It would help for travellers like me if there's a safe in room to store my passport. I'd recommend saving the top floor rooms for tourists. I'd stay again as it's a convenient location to the post office, eateries, and cafes, but with other accommodations nearby I'd probably stay elsewhere. I love the Observatory neighborhood. Please keep it clean, safe, and respectful.

Guys... This is a trap! Rooms were very dirty, mould everywere no hot water! Location is between a Shell garage and as graveyard, very noisy! We ended up moving out, and paid less at the Southern Sun in the City.

I have stayed at the paragon for 3 years now and the entire building is going under. The walls are cracking, the lifts scrape against the walls as you go up them, about 70% of the gym equipment is broken and you have about a million cockroaches trying to crawl their way into your bed when you are sleeping. The guards are the only part of this building that work everything else is a hazard. DO NOT SLEEP HERE

If you are looking for a place to sleep, then this is fine. You can go do your activities during the day and come back to sleep. Otherwise, there is no view. The view is the back of a petrol station, very dirty. The rooms are not that clean. There is no hot water. On the one day, we got warm water. The location is not so great, but it makes sense. Most UCT students stay in this accommodation, so it's convenient for them.

The apartment room my sister got for us was quite a nice, small space that was enough for the four of us. The Paragon isn't too far from nearby amenities, Pick N Pay was right across the street, there's a few fast food spots and restaurants around too. The city center, UCT and Table Mountain are all just within a couple of minutes drive.
