Urban Quarter

I have been living at UQ for the past four years, and during this time I have really enjoyed the wide range of facilities it has to offer. The convenience of having everything on site, from study spaces and recreational areas to social facilities, has made my experience both enjoyable and comfortable. However, one of the main challenges has been the high cost of rent and electricity, which can feel quite expensive in comparison to other accommodation options. Despite this, the overall experience has been positive, as the environment, facilities, and community have added a lot of value to my time here.

Living at Urban Quarter has been a constant frustration from the very start. Even trying to get accommodation here is a mission — management barely responds unless you hassle them for days, almost as if they don’t want new tenants at all. Once you finally move in, the problems never stop. There are facility issues almost every day, and after multiple complaints, all we ever get is an automated “sorry” message, usually days later. There’s constant construction noise with no warning, and when they repaint or scrape cement off the walls, it falls onto residents’ cars without any real apology or solution. The place is completely disorganized, and the staff show zero concern for residents’ comfort. There are far better and more reliable accommodations in Pretoria — avoid this one if you can.

The previous 2 years for my son was very pleasant with no problems. With the new agents in 2026 this has being a disaster with such rude and arrogant agents who refuse t accept responsibility for their mismanagement that we were asked to move out as the lease was not renewed yet I had confirmation and was told to wait for further communication from them. Despite various messages and calls there was no communication from them. Pathetic service delivery .. Thank you Dormel Phalane for a wonderful 2 years and assisting me to get a new flat.We have being very much inconvienced by the new agents. On the day we arrived to move out we received a call from a lady who said she was the owner and asked if we wanted to stay on as our name was on the system🤣🤣😡 having travelled 5 hours but the previous lady whom I was dealing with said we are not on the system for renewal and that the flat was being taken and they are fully booked but suddenly you guys have rooms😡😡 makes one wonder why reasons for eviction ?????I would never recommend this place to any future students cos of pathetic service delivery and attitude.You guys need to treat everyone with dignity.

Dropped my 2 children off and everything was so easy, they had 2 people ready to help us move in and the security was next level, felt so happy that I was leaving them there in a safe environment and the 2 bedroom flat had lovely window views and the setup just seemed to work. Also close to Tuks.

Great management with their swift responses to problems. Everything is convenient and optimized so students may have the best experience. A block is nice and quiet and good for students with heavy studying- only thing that can get noisy is the street but it’s not even that bad it’s like that almost everywhere. The place is always clean and well kept. All the rooms are “sound proofed” to some extent with solid doors and weatherstripping, so noise levels aren’t high on our side. Overall great great experience, staff have offices in the building so you can speak to them any time and they will fix it there and then.
